Open call for EMAP – European Media Art Platform residencies

Thanks to the four-year funding from EU programme Creative Europe, the EMAP – European Media Art Platform is launching the new year with an open call for a multi-month residency programme for artists and collectives, implemented across 15 European countries. Application deadline: 13 March 2026 at 2:00 p.m. CET.

EMAP – European Media Art Platform invites artists, artist duos, collectives, and artistic collaborations working in digital, media, robotic, and bio art to apply for a two-month production residency in 2026. The EMAP residency programme places a strong emphasis on collaboration. Applicants must therefore apply as a duo or collective, or propose a collaborative project with a partner of their choice or with a collaborator local to the host organisation.

  • NeMe, Limassol, Cyprus
  • Onassis Stegi, Athens, Greece
  • RIXC Centre for New Media Culture, Riga, Latvia
  • werkleitz – Centre for Media Art, Halle (Saale), Germany
  • WRO Art Center, Wrocław, Poland

Artists apply to the EMAP consortium as a whole and indicate their preferred host organisations in order of priority.

Residency details

  • Two-month production residency at one EMAP host organisation
  • Invitation to the kick-off conference in Braga, Portugal (8–9 May 2026)
  • €4,000 grant for the applying artist, including subsistence
  • €2,000 grant for collaborating artist(s) (collaborating artists do not need to be confirmed at the time of application)
  • €4,000 project budget
  • Accommodation provided by host
  • Travel expenses covered by host according to EU ceilings
  • Access to technical facilities and/or media labs

The residency also includes professional presentations and opportunities for exhibition tours and potential exhibitions with EMAP partners.

Eligibility
Applicants must be EU residents or taxpayers in an EU member state, or residents/taxpayers of one of the eligible non-EU countries.
PhD candidates and emerging artists of any age and academic background may apply. Undergraduate and Master’s students are not eligible.
